While no one likes seeing warmer days come to an end, there is a huge excitement for many people, especially in New England, about ski and snowboarding season being just around the corner. Regardless of how experienced you are in skiing or snowboarding, visiting and lodging at a resort is a great time for everyone, and a great way to spend time with family and friends throughout the winter months. This week, we are featuring one of our favorite resorts – Bretton Woods!
Located in the town of Carroll, New Hampshire, Bretton Woods is New Hampshire’s largest ski area, made up of a total of 464 acres. At Bretton Woods, you can ski and snowboard on 62 different trails and three terrain parks. The best part about Bretton Woods is that there is something for everyone, no matter how experienced you are or what age you are. You can even ride the slopes after dark, as they offer night skiing and riding.
There is a reason that Bretton Woods has won SKI Magazine’s “Resorts of the Year” five years in a row – because it truly is one of the best. When you get to Bretton Woods, there are a variety of different activities that you can participate in based on what works best for you and your family. They offer day passes, season passes and a junior pass program for your younger members. For those who have not skied or snowboarded ever, they offer Ski & Snowboard School and even “Learn to Ski or Ride Month!”
If there is a day that you are not feeling skiing or snowboarding, Bretton Woods offers several different guided winter adventures that you can participate in. They offer backcountry skiing, ice climbing, a snowshoe expedition and the Mount Washington Winter Ascent. While the Ascent will definitely test you and be a struggle mentally and physically, it is something you will NEVER forget!
